If you’ve tried all the anti-dandruff shampoos and still have an itchy scalp, you should try some natural dandruff remedies. Most of these remedies are found in the comforts of your home and are all-natural. Having dandruff can be irritating and frustrating—especially if your dandruff problem is severe. Luckily, there are several natural remedies for dandruff you can try to solve your itchy problem!

Natural Dandruff Remedies: Ditch Dandruff Naturally

1. Add Tea Tree Oil To Your Shampoo

Tea tree oil has been used as a remedy for various treatments and it can end your dandruff problem because of its anti-fungal properties. Add a few drops of tea tree oil to your regular shampoo, then wash your hair as normal.

2. Mix Apple Cider Vinegar With Water

Apple cider vinegar makes your scalp more acidic—preventing yeast growth. Mix equal parts of apple cider vinegar and water then pour it into a spray bottle. Spray it on your scalp and wait for about 15 minutes to an hour before rinsing your hair. You might not like the odor, but you’ll definitely love the results—especially once you’ve finally eliminated your dandruff problem.

3. Massage Baking Soda Into Your Hair

Baking soda helps exfoliate skin as well as absorb excess oil. Additionally, this fine powder aids in removing dead skin cells and in balancing your scalp’s pH level. As your scalp’s pH level normalizes, the growth of the dandruff-causing fungi is reduced.

Rub baking soda onto your wet scalp vigorously. In about 10 to 15 minutes, rinse your hair without using shampoo. This will make your hair dry, but it will help produce natural oils after a few weeks. Do this remedy twice a week for several weeks.

4. Massage Coconut Oil Into Your Hair

Coconut oil is a popular natural remedy for dandruff. Just like tea tree oil, it also has anti-fungal properties that can help get rid of dandruff.

Simply massage your scalp with coconut oil, then let it sit for an hour before you shower. You can also add lemon juice to the oil to help balance the pH level of your scalp.

5. Leave Olive Oil In Your Hair Overnight

Olive oil can moisturize your scalp to prevent it from getting dry and causing dandruff. Massage olive oil onto your scalp, then leave it on overnight. Put a shower cap on while you sleep. Rinse your hair with shampoo and conditioner the following morning. There are shampoos that already contain olive oil so you can also try that too.

6. Pour Table Salt On Your Head

So you thought ordinary table salt was just for seasoning the food you eat? It could also help with your dandruff problem! Pour salt on your scalp before shampooing your hair then massage your scalp with the salt to scrub off the dandruff flakes. Do this for about 5 to 10 minutes and then rinse. Shampoo as normal afterward.

7. Massage Crushed Garlic Onto Your Scalp

Garlic contains antimicrobial properties that can help get rid of the dandruff-causing bacteria. Crush 1-2 cloves of garlic, then rub the crushed garlic onto your scalp and massage it in for a few minutes. You can also mix the garlic with honey to lessen the garlic’s potent smell. Wash and shampoo your hair afterward.
